Our weekend meetings will be similar to our weekly screenings of an arthouse film, followed by a discussion. The discussion is led by one of our members, or sometimes a guest speaker, and encourages members to share their thoughts and interpretations of the film.
Age of Innocence || Weekend Showing || Good Morning by Yazujiro Ozu and El Sur by Victor Erice
"Age of Innocence:
Children in cinema have always been tantamount to setting the stage to explore the world and society through the an innocent viewpoint. The glistening eyes that give away confusion of the social conundrums and hypocrisies set up by adults, the overpowering nativity, and the organic emotions harboured with an almost religious conviction, comes to explain why children played a key role in the development of cinema.
This Saturday, we are going to watch and discuss El Sur by the Spanish autuer Victor Erice, and Good Morning by the Japanese Golden Era master Yazujiro Ozu.
Made in different eras and different political conditions, both films serve as a prime example of a world examined through a child’s perspective.
Come watch El Sur and Good Morning on Saturday at Underline Center, Indiranagar at 3 PM on 7th September."
