“Exit-Mynah” is a delirious, sardonic and bittersweet one-man music and monologue performance by Shashwat Bulusu that breaks and blends the two practices. The show uniquely uses sound to drive emotionally absurd stories that invite the audience to embrace the discomfort.

Since he started in 2011, Shashwat Bulusu has been turning heads with his trademark non-conforming approach toward songwriting. Shashwat’s unapologetic DIY experimentation combined with a penchant for finding riveting melodies, truly makes him one of a kind. As a result, it’s incredibly difficult to put him in a box. A singer-songwriter, producer and visual artist, Shashwat is remarkably self-aware about his creative process and tries not to over-romanticize his art. On a cursory listen to his oeuvre of musical narratives, one is bound to be struck by his fearlessness in foraying into new sonic territories.

Being a multilingual artist, Shashwat writes in both English and Hindi, each allowing him to delve into unique expressions, sometimes being veiled and other times being more confrontational. An avid storyteller through his songs and his live performances, Shashwat’s songs primarily deal with themes of absurdity and self-admission, underpinned by a sense of raw emotion and vulnerability.

With 3 nationwide tours, prominent live performances at festivals such as Lollapalooza ’24, Kochi Biennale ‘23, NH7 Weekender ‘22, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Online Concert ’21, features in the Bejoy Nambiar directorial Dange/Por and scoring for the Indie film ‘Gamit’, Shashwat is steadily and firmly coming into his own, a sonic-universe that reflects his vision as a multifaceted and multidisciplinary artist.
