Reporting: A People First Approach by the People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI)

This workshop by the Underline Center will guide writers on how to craft compelling stories about the lives and livelihoods of everyday Indians.

Conducted by Vishaka George, Senior Editor at the People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI), the session will cover topics such as finding evocative stories that often go under the radar, obtaining informed consent, interviewing techniques, photography and videography tips, and creating compelling narratives. It also includes hands-on interviewing and editing exercises to enhance storytelling skills.

What is The People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI)?

PARI is a journalistic platform dedicated to covering under-reported rural issues. Their stories, told via text, photos and videos, cover agriculture, rural healthcare, education, resource conflicts, art and culture. PARI’s work highlights the voices of marginalised communities, offering perspectives often missing from mainstream media.
